Robinia wood characteristics

Robinia has excellent technical characteristics, high natural durability and often decorative and beautiful looks. The tree is heavy and smooth and its strength is far superior to that of oak or other broad-leaved species. It is comparable to the quality of MAHAGONY AND TEAK. It is difficult to manipulate, heavy and very dense.

Acacia-Robinia has excellent strength. All connections with bolts, other fasteners, adhesives, etc. are very good and stable. The core has a natural protection against fungi and insects. Robinia is the only kind of wood that is class 1-2 according to the European DIN EN 350-2 standard, which gives it a 10 year warranty against rot even if directly immersed in the ground. Robinia wood has high edge strength. Planed surfaces are tight and flat, and can be processed further without problems. All connections with nails, screws or adhesives are very durable. However, pre-drilling is required.

The original color of Robinia disappears in case of thermal treatment, e.g. steaming for veneer production, and changes to chestnut brown. The wood is highly acidic and gets discolored by metals in connection with humidity, additionally the metals corrode. Timber joints or stainless steel need to be used for mounting. The dry wood is odorless. Nowadays, high quality Robinia wood is increasingly difficult to discover as  raw material. It can be found only in central and eastern Europe. That is why all Robinia products are offered at a price range of above average levels.

Acacia trunks that we use are with premium  quality and imported from FSC Certified Forests. There are no large knots, cracks and torn areas that ensure the durability of the items (min. 10 years of service life). Stems are 20 - 25 years old and 14 to 16 cm thick in the middle of the tree. (EN1176-1) Secondary treatment of acacia trunks to reach usable material include - manual removal of bark and sapwood to reach the tree’s hardwood , sanding manually with P80 – P100 grain sandpaper to achieve smoothness.

Sawn material

For the production of platforms, walls, paths, bridges, stairs and other elements we use premium quality material without large knots, cracks and tingling areas. The boards have a thickness of 2.5-2.8 cm and a width that varies from 9 to 18 cm. For props and other parts of the equipment we use whips with square or rectangular cross section: 8 * 8/7 * 7 or 6 * 8 cm section. To make our roofs, we use premium quality material without large knots, cracks and torn areas in the form of un - edged boards that on the one side have kept the natural growth of the tree and on the other they are edged. Their thickness is 2 cm, the width varies between 12 and 22 cm.

Rope processing

We use various rope executions such as PP split, multi-split as well as different fixings to the main structure. Even though we've created some standard fixations, different executions are possible. For the production of pyramids we use aluminium ferrules as well plastic X and T connectors.
